  BLACKPOOL SHAMROCK CELTIC SUPPORTERS CLUB

*SureStart* is part of a Government initiative to provide services and activities for families with young children in under resourced communities. Talbot and Brunswick is one such area and has benefited from having a new SureStart building with a nursery and a cafe, and new play park land for the local children. A sports barn has also been built beside it and can be booked through Blackpool Borough Council Leisure Facilities. All sorts of courses are provided for parents (eg computing, basic life support). Services include easy access to a Midwife, Health visitor and Speech and Language Therapist. There are also activities for pregnant women, mums, dads and children, such as Bumps 2 Babes, Breastfeeding support, Baby massage, Parent and child courses, Toddler groups and after school sessions. There is a Parent's Forum which organises community activities and different trips, raising funds to enable all families equal access to these. People can also become community volunteers, helping the local area in different ways.

BLACKPOOL SHAMROCK FUNCTION

We saw wee Jimmy's mosaic on e-bay being auctioned by Markybhoy the whole proceeds of which would be going to MND.

Blackpool Shamrock CSC decided to bid for the mosaic.......we were the highest bidder at £155.

When I told Markybhoy we intended to auction the mosaic he sent us a second mosaic.........top man!!!!!!!!!

It was decided to auction one on the night of the function and raffle the other in the run up to the night.

The auctioned mosaic raised £185 The raffled mosaic £200 In total therefore: Blackpool Shamrock CSC will contribute £155 + £80 (remainder from original £235) + £200 + £185 which is a grand total of £620 to Jimmy Johnstone's MND charity.

Spirit of 67 are playing at the Trades on Saturday 25th November. Doors open at 7.30 and tickets are £7.

At the function we will be holding a raffle for one of the Jimmy Johnstone mosaics, raffle and function tickets are available in the Trades club on Sunday match days, on the supporter's bus on match days or from Joe Martin at anytime.

A second identical mosaic will be auctioned on the night.

All moneys raised will be added to the £155 we have already donated (by winning the e-bay bid for the mosaics) to Jimmy's MND charity.

The club had raised £235 to go towards wee Jimmy's MND charity.

Just before we banked the money with the charity we saw a 'mosaic' of the wee genius for auction on e-bay. ALL of the proceeds of the auction were going directly to the MND charity so we had a quick think amongst the committee and decided to bid for the print.

We were the highest bidder and got the print.

The fella who made and auctioned the mosaic was so chuffed with the amount raised, who had won it and what we planned to do with it, he has 'donated' a second mosaic to the club.

The original plan was to either raffle the print or auction it at a club function, we can now do both.

The print will be on view in the Trades Club this Saturday for everyone to have a look at it.

We will be selling raffle tickets for the next 4-5 weeks for one of the prints and hope to draw the raffle at a function we plan to hold in the Trades Club towards the end of November.

At the same function we will auction the second print, telephone bids are very acceptable, just tell one of the committe members how much you would be willing to pay for the print and your bid will be entered on the night - no-one will be aware of the amount you have bid...........unless you win it of course.

20 x 30 inch mosaic print of the Greatest ever Celt Jimmy Johnstone.

The print is made up of hundreds of cell images of the wee man compiled into a mosaic of the main photo.

At our 10th anniversary function last year we raised a sum of £500 for the local Blackpool (Talbot & Brunswick) Sure Start parents forum.

This money would be used to help families with children who have things a wee bit tougher than the majority of us.

In the photograph from left to right at the back there is Gwen, Joe Martin (Club Chairman) Steve Brogi (club Secretary) Sue and Jane, ladies from the Blackpool (Talbot & Brunswick) Sure Start parents forum recieving the cheque for £500 from the Blackpool Shamrock CSC.

A BIG THANKS TO THE OUTGOING CLUB TREASURER

The club wishes to thank John McCartney for the fantastic work he has done in the past years as club Treasurer.

John took over the finances of the club when they were in very poor health and leaves the post of Treasurer with the books in very good order.

John Johnston was voted in to hopefully continue the good work.

Anyone wishing to purchase the brand new Blackpool Shamrock pin badges can do so on match days from 12.30 till 14.30 in the LONDON ROAD CSC.

BLACKPOOL SHAMROCK CELTIC SUPPORTERS CLUB

MINUTES OF THE AGM OF 9 JULY 2006

Members can be provided with the account actuals on request from  Steve Brogi or John Johnston.

Club Secretary, Steve Brogi, opened the meeting and thanked the members for their attendance.

Treasurers Report

Club treasurer, John McCartney, was unable to attend so the Club Secretary provided the floor with a copy of the Club account. The account showed that the Club account was £XXXX in the black. However, on top of this amount were outstanding debtors totalling £XXXX. The outstanding debt was made up of dues and merchandise unpaid from last season. It was noted however that the majority of debtors are members and regular travellers on the bus and that

therefore, the vast majority of the debt should be recovered.

NB: Post-Meeting Note – £XXX in debtors have been paid as at 11 August 2006 .

Committee for Season 2005/2006

After 5 years of sterling service, Club Treasurer John McCartney has decided to stand down from the committee. The Club formally recognised the fantastic contribution John has made over the course of his term in post and issued a grateful thanks in his absence.

The only applications for positions on the Committee were from the present incumbents and John Johnston. As such, the two existing positions were maintained and John Johnston was appointed as the new Treasurer. All in attendance wished John success in his new role. Therefore, the positions for this season are as follows:

Secretary – Steve Brogi –07736 811927

President – Joe Martin –07905 684170

Treasurer - John Johnston – 07817 909570

Proposals/Votes

Proposal 1 – If the Club's finances are in a healthy state then there should be a free bus for members during the coming season (as in Season 2005/2006). Each member would be given one credit, which they could use at any single game during the 2006/2007 season.

Proposed J Hearty Seconded C McGuire

The Club's finances were debated and as a result, this proposal was withdrawn by J Hearty.

Proposal 2 – Due to the increase in bus hire charges and the adverse affect on the Club's finances, it was proposed that bus fares be increased to £17 for members and £25 for non-members.

Proposed J Hearty Seconded D McCoid

Amendment Proposed – Maintain bus fares at £15 and £20 and increase monthly dues to £8 (from £6).

Proposed D Campbell Seconded R Quinn

PROPOSAL CARRIED

NB Post-meeting note: Following the AGM, the existing bus company further increased the bus hire charge. As a result, alternative suppliers were sought and subsequently we have now changed bus companies due to the more competitive price offered by Redline Coaches. As a result of this reduced hire cost, the Committee agreed that the bus fares could be maintained at the previous level (£15 and £20) and have therefore amended the rates accordingly.

The meeting was proposed closed by Frank Hannaway, seconded by John Johnston.
